Oatmeal is a nutritious and incredibly versatile food that can be enjoyed as breakfast, a snack, or even a dessert. I personally enjoy eating semi-sweetened oatmeal as a stand-alone dish but it’s also one of my favorite ingredients to add to smoothies and guilt-free treats for a fiber boost. To satisfy a sweet tooth, here’s a wholesomely delicious, recipe that pairs oatmeal with a healthy mix of chocolate, nuts, and berries.
What You Need
- 1/2 cup of rolled oats cooked with 1-1/2 cups of water
- 1 teaspoon of raw, unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/2 cup of non-fat milk
- 1 tablespoon of walnuts (optional)
- 1 cup of blueberries (optional)
- 2 tablespoons of Splenda
How To Prepare
Cook the oats with 1-1/2 cups of water until they’re fluffy and all the water has disappeared. I recommend cooking the oats for 2 minutes in the microwave, stirring them, and then cooking them for another 2 minutes. Add the cocoa powder and cinnamon to the cooked oats while they’re still hot and then stir the mixture until everything is fully combined. The oats should have a deep chocolatey color.
Next, add the walnuts and then the milk (Tip: You can add as much milk as you’d like but 1/2 a cup gives the oats a nice creamy consistency). Add the splenda and stir to combine until the oats have the consistency you like. Finally, add the blueberries.
